Interpretive Programs
Atlanta History Center – GA
“Gene was a phenomenal resource of historically accurate information! He was able to easily educate and captivate audiences with his portrayal of Mr. Inman at the Swan House located at Atlanta History Center. I knew I could always rely on Gene and his colleagues at Swan House to provide guests with an experience unlike any other. First-person interpretation is difficult to do in general; however, Gene’s commitment to the craft and his ability to elevate the guest’s experience was exceptionally well done time and time again. It was apparent that he took the time and energy to extensively research not only the individual he was portraying, but also researched the time period that individual lived in— he could tell you how much shares in Coca-Cola stock were selling for in 1928!
I thoroughly always enjoyed Gene’s interpretative skills as he made learning about history accessible and conversational for all audiences who had the pleasure of getting to interact with him as Mr. Inman at the Swan House.”

“While serving as volunteer coordinator for Sweetwater Creek State Park’s New Manchester Mill Days living history program, Mr. Harmon provided quality leadership with his living history group. His interpretative skills are excellent and he presents historical programs that are well researched, thought provoking, and entertaining.”
Stately Oaks Plantation – GA
“After having seen Gene’s interpretive skills at a variety of events, we were pleased to have him present a program at Stately Oaks on period weapons and their use. He also led a group of volunteers portraying soldiers in a scenario depicting an event that happened in the home. He is a skilled interpreter and adapts his presentation well to the audience, situation, and the number of volunteers on hand on any given day and situation. We were glad he was able to present this program over the course of several years that this event was held.”
