About

With a deep commitment to meaningful interpretation and a dedication to making a lasting impact, Inheriting Heritage, LLC offers comprehensive services tailored to meet the needs of interpretive sites and organizations nationwide.

Inheriting Heritage, LLC specializes in professional interpretive consulting, staff training, and heritage interpretation, with a focus on helping audiences form meaningful connections to historical, cultural, and natural resources. With roots in living history programming dating back to 2006 as a volunteer, the company’s founder transitioned into professional interpretation following a formative 2013 summer position in Alaska.

During this assignment, five months were spent at Denali National Park and Preserve portraying a 1941 park ranger. This role required extensive research into Alaska’s history, the development of the park, the historical figure represented, and the region’s natural environment. The resulting interpretive program was developed with a strong foundation in historical accuracy and storytelling, earning accreditation as a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) and meeting the professional standards of the National Park Service.

As a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) through the National Association for Interpretation, Inheriting Heritage, LLC is connected to an international network of interpretation professionals across museums, parks, and heritage institutions. This engagement ensures continued alignment with current best practices, emerging methodologies, and evolving trends in the field.

The organization has delivered interpretive training programs for museum staff, developed comprehensive interpretive plans and manuals, and supported certified trainers in the facilitation of CIG courses. Its work has contributed to the successful development and implementation of interpretive programs at state parks, national parks, historic sites, and museums across the country.

In addition to heritage-focused organizations, Inheriting Heritage, LLC has been engaged by professionals in sales and marketing sectors seeking to apply interpretive techniques to enhance communication effectiveness and audience engagement.

The company’s manager has also served as Deputy Director of the Sunny Southeast Region of the National Association for Interpretation, further demonstrating leadership and active involvement within the professional interpretation community.
